Behind From the Celtic Mountain are Sybilla and her daughter Michelle – two generations united by their passion for the English Mastiff.
Sybilla looks back on more than three decades of experience with this remarkable breed. Many dogs, litters, shows and developments have shaped our breeding programme over the years and created a depth of knowledge that cannot be gained from books, pedigrees or health results alone.
With her daughter Michelle, the next generation is not only growing into this experience but is increasingly taking responsibility for the future of From the Celtic Mountain. She is continuing the kennel and bringing her own perspective on modern, responsible Mastiff breeding.
In this way, decades of experience and a new generation of breeders come together directly. Proven knowledge is passed on, while at the same time being questioned, developed and complemented by new insights.
More Than Three Decades
A History That Reaches Back Many Years
Over the decades, many dogs have shaped our family and our breeding programme. They are connected with litters, dog shows, journeys, encounters and countless personal memories.
Part of this history has been preserved in old photographs, records and documents. We are gradually reviewing and digitising this archive.
Wherever dogs, dates or events can be identified with certainty, we continue to add this information. Step by step, this is creating a chronicle of From the Celtic Mountain – from the early years to our present-day Mastiffs.

What Matters to Us in Breeding
At first glance, the English Mastiff impresses with his size and powerful appearance. For us, however, something else makes him truly special: his balanced temperament, calm nature, devotion to people and close bond with his family.
These are qualities we want to preserve.
When planning a mating, we therefore consider more than pedigree and appearance. Health, temperament, development and the individual qualities of each dog are equally important to us.
Our breeding takes place within the framework of the VDH and FCI and follows the breeding requirements applicable to the English Mastiff.
Health examinations, pedigrees and careful breeding plans provide an important foundation. Nevertheless, we never lose sight of one central principle:

Everyday Life, Not a Backdrop
At the Heart of Our Everyday Lives
Our dogs do not live alongside our everyday lives – they are part of them.
They experience visitors, family life, other dogs, outings, quiet moments and all the small situations that make up normal everyday life.
Because of this, we know our Mastiffs not only through health results, pedigrees or show achievements. We know their individual habits, preferences, relationships with one another and their very different personalities.
Behind his impressive appearance is a sensitive dog with a strong bond to people, who seeks closeness and wants to belong. For us, this closeness to people is an essential part of the English Mastiff’s character.

Thoughtful Puppy Rearing
At the Heart of Life from the Very First Days
When a Mastiff puppy is born, its world is initially very small. Warmth, sleep, milk and the closeness of its mother and littermates shape the first days. But that world quickly begins to grow.
Our puppies therefore gradually become familiar with new sounds, surfaces, objects, people and everyday situations. We make sure that new experiences are introduced in an age-appropriate, positive way without unnecessary pressure.
Our aim is not to expose puppies to as many stimuli as possible in the shortest possible time. What matters much more to us is that a puppy can develop confidence, gain experience and still receive enough rest.

Responsibility Beyond Moving Day
A Home That Truly Fits – and a Story That Continues
A puppy from our breeding programme should not simply find just any home. We want to know who our puppies will live with and under what conditions.
That is why personal contact with prospective owners is an important part of the process from the very beginning. The English Mastiff is an extraordinary family dog. His size, development and particular needs also come with responsibility.
For us, the goal is not to find a home as quickly as possible, but to find the right home for each individual dog.
When one of our puppies eventually leaves us, our relationship does not simply end. We are always pleased to receive photos, messages and visits, and we are happy to remain a point of contact for our puppy families long after their dog has moved into its new home.
It is the dogs themselves who write our story.
