More Than Dates and Letters
A Story Spanning Generations
Our history with the English Mastiff reaches back more than three decades. These extraordinary dogs have shared our lives as family members, companions and, in time, as the foundation of our breeding.
Every litter carries memories of individual dogs, special moments and families who have become part of our story. This page is therefore more than a record of the litters of From the Celtic Mountain. It also looks back at the years before and preserves photographs and memories from our family archive.
Many of these photographs and documents pre-date websites, smartphones and social media. That makes them all the more valuable to us today – tangible pieces of a history that stretches across generations.
From the Celtic Mountain
Our Litters Since 2006
With our A litter in 2006, the breeding history of From the Celtic Mountain began under the kennel name we still carry today.
Since then, many Mastiffs have been born and raised in our home before joining families in Germany and abroad.
We keep our litter history deliberately chronological and transparent, with the most recent litters appearing first.
Each letter represents far more than a date and a litter. Behind it are individual dogs, families and stories that remain connected with our breeding and with us.

Memories from Decades with Our Mastiffs
For us, a breeding history is more than a sequence of letters and birth dates. Many of our memories were captured long before smartphones, websites and social media – on ordinary printed photographs.
Some of those images have survived the decades. They show Mastiffs with their puppies, out on walks, together as a group or simply living alongside us as part of the family.
The Years Before
Our Roots – From the Burning Mountain
Our breeding story reaches back further than From the Celtic Mountain.
Our earliest litters were born under the kennel name From the Burning Mountain. These years are therefore an important part of our history with the Mastiff, even though From the Burning Mountain and From the Celtic Mountain are two distinct kennel names.
Alongside breeding records, photographs, memories from dog shows, newspaper articles and international publications have also survived from this period.

A Glimpse into the Past
Newspaper articles, show memories and international records from our Mastiff history.
Old English Mastiff – Club Show 2000
In 2000, the Eifel Journal reported on a club show held by the Mastiff-Specialclub Deutschland e.V. in Kopp.
The surviving newspaper clipping offers a rare contemporary glimpse into how the Mastiff and the dog show scene of the time were presented to the wider public.
Even then, the Mastiff was described as a calm and well-balanced family dog. The article also documents an event attended by numerous Mastiffs and their owners.
Francis from the Burning Mountain of Bredwardine
The surviving historic Bredwardine advertisement names Francis as “Top Mastiff 2004”.
It lists championship titles in England, Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Switzerland. Schug & Nordhues, Germany are named as the breeders, with Bredwardine Brynilltyd listed as his sire.
To us, documents like these are far more than old advertisements. They preserve a piece of Mastiff history and show just how internationally connected the breed and its breeders already were at the time.
More Than Breeding Dogs
Mastiffs as Part of Our Family
Our Mastiffs have never been simply show dogs or names in a pedigree. They live with us, share our everyday lives and are first and foremost members of our family.
Many of the old photographs show exactly what remains natural to us today: Mastiffs out in the countryside, several dogs together and puppies growing up at the heart of family life.
Walks, everyday life and many years shared together – photographs from our historic Mastiff archive.
A Story That Continues
From Then to Today
Much has changed over the decades. Photography has become digital, information can now travel around the world in seconds and the possibilities for health screening and responsible breeding planning have continued to develop.
What has never changed is our love for the English Mastiff: the breed’s calm nature, dignity, balanced temperament and, above all, its extraordinary closeness to the family.
The experience gained over many years with this breed continues to guide us today – in the way we raise our puppies and with every new generation of From the Celtic Mountain.
If you would like to meet our Mastiffs today, you can discover them on our Our English Mastiffs page. Information about future litters and our current plans can be found under Puppies & Litter Plans .
Preserving Our History Together
Help Us Complete Our Archive
Our archive continues to grow. Photographs, records and documents spanning several decades of Mastiff history are gradually being reviewed, digitised and connected with the dogs, litters and events they belong to.
Do you share your life with a Mastiff from one of our earlier litters, or do you still have old photographs, pedigrees, show results or information about a litter?
We appreciate every memory and every piece of information that helps us complete our breeding history and preserve it for future generations.
