From Friday to Tuesday, Sybilla’s journey took her to Cérilly in France. Two special Mastiff events were held there over the weekend: the Régionale d’Élevage on Saturday and the Nationale d’Élevage on Sunday.
For us, two dogs in particular were at the centre of the weekend: our Greta from Gawy and Natalio from the Celtic Mountain. Natalio was bred by us and now lives with his owner David Gonzalo Hergueta in Spain. International dog shows are therefore always a wonderful opportunity for us to meet dogs from our breeding programme again.
And, as so often, this weekend was about much more than just the few minutes spent in the show ring.
Saturday – Régionale d’Élevage in Cérilly
The weekend began on Saturday, 26 September 2026, with the Régionale d’Élevage. A total of 26 Mastiffs were entered. They were judged by French judge Anne Dytrych.
Natalio from the Celtic Mountain competed in the Open Class for males and finished in 2nd place.
Natalio had already given us a very special moment at the CEMA Monográfica in El Escorial 2025, where he was named Best Junior of the show.
Greta from Gawy also entered the ring on Saturday. Competing in the Champion Class for females, she received Excellent 2 and finished second in her class.

Sunday – Nationale d’Élevage with 51 Mastiffs
On Sunday, the Nationale d’Élevage Cérilly followed. With a total of 51 Mastiffs entered, the field was considerably larger. The Mastiffs were judged by German judge Christofer Habig.
Natalio once again competed in the Open Class for males and received the grading Excellent.
Greta returned to the Champion Class for females and achieved Excellent 3. She therefore finished the weekend with Excellent 2 on Saturday and Excellent 3 on Sunday.
You can learn more about Greta, her health examinations, temperament and previous show achievements on her detailed profile.

A Brief Look at the Next Generation
There were also some lovely results in Cérilly among descendants of dogs from our breeding programme.
Siblings Asland and Apple Juice, both offspring of Ch. Leonardo Bredwardine from the Celtic Mountain, live with Xavi Grau Sánchez in Spain and won their respective Junior Classes on both days.
On Saturday, Asland was also awarded Best of Breed and Best Junior. On Sunday, he received the JCAC in addition to winning his class and was once again named Best Junior. Apple Juice also received the JCAC after another class win on Sunday. In the junior competition, Asland was awarded Junior BOB and Apple Juice Junior BOS.

Tumbatoros Belice, a daughter of Natalio from the Celtic Mountain, also enjoyed a successful weekend and was awarded Best Baby on both days.

Asland, Apple Juice and Tumbatoros Belice are not our own dogs. All the more, we enjoy following their development and seeing how descendants of dogs from our breeding programme continue to grow.
More Than Show Results
At Mastiff shows, we meet many of the same people again and again. We watch the dogs grow up, meet at events in different countries and, in some cases, have known one another for many years.
Our meal together with other exhibitors was therefore once again part of the weekend. It has almost become a tradition and is always a lovely opportunity to sit together after a long show day and enjoy some time away from the ring.
The weather also treated us kindly. These encounters and shared moments are just as much a part of dog shows for us as the results in the ring.
You can find more reports and memories from the show ring in our Dog Shows & Show Success section.
A Final Swim in the Lake
On Monday, several of the dogs took advantage of the good weather and headed into the nearby lake for a little cooling off. Our water-loving Greta was, of course, immediately among them.

Our Cérilly 2026 Conclusion
With Excellent 2 and Excellent 3 for Greta, a 2nd place for Natalio on Saturday and another Excellent grading on Sunday, we look back very fondly on Cérilly 2026.
Even more important than the individual placings were seeing Natalio again, meeting friends and fellow exhibitors, and enjoying all the little moments away from the show ring.
A wonderful weekend in France – both inside and far beyond the show ring.
